 A common sight in urban areas
Around the world, A rock pigeons nest....pigeons were introduced into North America in the early 1600’s,
city buildings and window ledges mimic the rocky cliffs originally inhabited by their ancestors in Europe....
Today there’s an estimated over 1 million pigeons in NYC alone
The female pigeon builds a flimsy nest of twigs and whatever other material locally found, the material for nesting is supplied by the male pigeon,
In this particular nest there’s electric wires, zip ties, and a plastic straw, as part of the nest

Pigeons are monagmous (mate for life), 8 days after mating they will lay 2 eggs which they’ll take turns incubating, the male by day, the female at night. Approximately 18 days thereafter the eggs will hatch. 2 days before the eggs hatch both male and female start producing milk rich in antioxidants and immune boosters which will nourish the hatchlings for the first 10 days.( the pigeon is one of only 3 birds that have the ability to produce milk ) Chicks leave the nest between 25-32 days and the amazing life cycle repeats...
